When asked to shoot a helicopter tour proposal I immediately knew I could not say no.
One, because it’s not often that the person proposing thinks of hiring an engagement photographer for that incredibly special moment.
Two, how EPIC is a Las Vegas helicopter tour with a proposal in The Grand Canyon.
T & E came all the way from Austin, Texas and met coaching volleyball.
They had previously visited Las Vegas and done the helicopter tour so knowing this during the planning process I knew it would be a little less suspicious.
E had done all the planning with me all while they were both coaching a volleyball tournament in Las Vegas during their stay. When the day had come to propose we had every last detail planned, from secretly meeting at the New York New York casino , the limo ride to the airport, smuggling camera gear onto the helicopter and how to queue when it was game time.
The Proposal…
With breathtaking views over Lake Mead and The Hoover Dam, we landed on The Grand Canyon floor. We had 30 minutes to explore, which for me meant staying inconspicuous and waiting for the proposal to happen. They came dressed in the most perfect “date night “ outfits and wandered around checking out the most incredible canyons and the Colorado river. Finally it was time! She said “yes”!
Once E had popped the question and they had enjoyed a moment together, both teary – eyed and joyful I was in the clear! After formal introductions we spent the rest of the time taking the most beautiful engagement portraits and even had the pilot pour some celebratory champagne.
We took some more photos with the helicopter and took off into the sunset and ended at The Las Vegas Strip.
A special thanks to papillon for making this such a great experience.
