Downtown Las Vegas  / The Arts District

The first stop of the top 10 Locations off The Las Vegas Strip is Downtown Las Vegas. If you love the vibe of Las Vegas but not the crowds, extra walking, and parking, Downtown Las Vegas is the place for you. With many backdrops and gorgeous art murals there are so many options that downtown can fit the bill for almost any couple.  Old Vegas signs and casinos are just a short walk from Fremont street and a quick drive to most of the Vegas wedding chapels. The Arts district is also a very short distance from Downtown and provides a similar vibe with retro shopping and a quaint view of local business and murals.

The Neon museum

The Neon Museum almost always goes hand in hand with Downtown Las Vegas, with less than a ten minute drive from Fremont and The Arts district. Rich in Vegas history this place is one of the most unique if you’re looking to outdo your bestie’s wedding photos. They provide as little as 15 minute time slots which is all you need for The North Gallery  and you can even have your ceremony there. If you’re looking to go above and beyond you can also book the main gallery with the coolest lit up signs you have ever seen.

The Neon Museum

Springs Preserve

Next up we have Springs Preserve. If you’re into the desert scene and botanical gardens, Springs Preserve might just be the spot. With about a 15-20 minute drive , the tickets are very affordable and the parking is easy. Walking around you will see beautiful cactus gardens , greenery and even some cool architecture with a hint of red rocks. The perfect place if you want the desert without the drive.

Lake Las Vegas/ The Hilton at Lake Las Vegas

Lake Las Vegas is a gem! There are so many cute spots to stop and take photos between the Hilton at Lake Las Vegas and the old European architecture modeled after the Ponte Vecchio in Florence Italy. Although you may need permission from the Hilton or a permit to shoot there it really has a lot to offer and is one of my favorite locations.

Lake Las Vegas

Local Parks

Fifth on the list, Local Parks.. Don’t knock it till you try it! Maybe it is not your first choice but if you’re short on time or have a small budget there may be a park that will surprise you. From sand dunes to ponds and wildlife you might find a place that fits your needs.

Seven Magic Mountains / Jean Roach Dry Lake Bed

Sixth , Seven Magic Mountains! This place is incredibly unique , with tall rainbow mountain installations and the dry lake beds just a few minutes away. You can have a good variety of backdrops in a location that’s only 25 minutes away from the Las Vegas strip. The sunset and the mountains in the desert really add a special touch and the dry lake beds leave plenty of room for activities.

Red Rock Canyon

One of my absolute favorite locations is Red Rock Canyon! There are so many spots to dip off away from the general hikers and sightseers. The winding roads lead to beautiful red mountains with hiking trails and views that will have you questioning if you’re even close to the strip. This location requires a permit that takes about 30 days to acquire and costs about $142 but is well worth it if you’re looking for adventurous nature photos. Travel time from the strip is around 30 – 40 min.

Red Rock Canyon

Nelson’s Ghost Town

This place is a real treat! The possibilities are endless if you’re into the whole abandoned ghost town , rustic/ vintage vibe. Surrounded by red rock and alien-like cacti you can pick and choose between a gutted stained glass chapel for a ceremony and plane crash wreckage for epic wedding portraits. About a 45 min trip from the strip this location will wow you friends and family… just don’t touch the cactuses you will regret it ! There is a $20 fee to shoot here.

Mount Charleston

Ninth on the list we travel into the mountains. Mount Charleston is quite the magical little place, located about 45 – 60 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. Here you can explore hiking trails, go camping, and enjoy beautiful views. In the winter you can enjoy the snow, believe it or not, and for the rest of the year you can enjoy wild horses and get away from the Vegas heat.

Country Clubs or Resorts

Finally we have Clubs and Resorts! Some of my favorite work has come from some of the many country clubs and resorts here. If you’re staying at one or looking to have a big wedding, the beach vibe and greenery can be quite stunning. Here are some of my favorites:

Green Valley Ranch

Red Rock Resort & Spa

Bali Hai Golf Club

Bonus * A Local Business

If none of these feel like you, which let’s not forget this day is all about you , pick a place that reflects your personality or hobbies! Take the easy road and keep it stress free while enjoying a slice of pizza, a beer or playing some games at an arcade. Maybe even a stop at a local greenhouse or record store will do the trick!
